About Me
Hello, I am Phillip Choe a K-12 California Certified Math Teacher in Orange County, CA and a Korean-American math tutor. I have been tutoring students in math since 2000, helping more than 5,000 students improve their math skills. I taught in both public middle schools and high schools from 2005 to 2013. I teach students the best and most effective techniques to solve math from core levels all the way through Calculus as well as test-taking strategies. I tailor the material to each student’s level and move at their pace to ensure there is a strong understanding of each subject before moving on. The initial consultation and placement test are free and I encourage you to stop by. Upon consultation, I will get a feel for the student’s current math comprehension levels and identify which skills we will begin improving first.
Tutoring Style
I typically tutor in a one-on-one setting though group tutoring is possible upon request. One-on-one sessions call for more individualized attention while group tutoring also works well for students as it creates a setting where students can interact with each other to push their learning further. This also allows older students to brush up on basic skills from the past if there are younger students present and allows younger students to set goals for their math learning by looking up to older students. I have also made remote online tutoring available for those who chose via Skype, Zoom, and Google Hangouts.
